Message from Principal regarding the Air-Quality

This is Ms. Gray,
Principal of Nestle with an important update regarding the Saddleridge Fire cleanup.
Our thoughts go out to everyone who was affected by the fire.
At schools in the San Fernando Valley, maintenance crews worked over the weekend cleaning our schools and are returning this morning to provide additional cleaning support to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Students may be relocated from their regular classroom while this cleaning occurs.
Shifting winds may also bring smoke into our community, and we are providing masks for students and staff who request them. Filters in the ventilation system were replaced over the weekend, and we are running air-conditioners in classrooms to filter residual smoke.
We are also limiting outdoor activities, as needed, this week. We are currently sheltering in place. If you would like to pick up your child before regular dismissal today, please come to the main office and bring your ID.
Absences today will not affect your child’s attendance record. Los Angeles Unified will continue to work with our public-safety partners in monitoring fire and air-quality conditions and will take appropriate actions based on the most current information provided to us. Thank you for your continued understanding and support.
