To the Los Angeles Unified School Community,
Back to school after a break for students usually means smiles and hugs from friends they missed seeing. Well, this year is a bit different, but we welcome our school community back with open arms to finish a semester filled with discovery and learning.

I’ll be sharing an update about what the next few months in our schools will look like tomorrow at 11 am on KLCS. Please join us if you can.

The conversation will also be available for viewing on the Los Angeles Unified website.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

The absence from school creates hardship for students – loss of stability and friendships, loss of learning and loss of a big part of their social safety net. Their world has been turned upside down and we need to make sure students have the support they need.

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 2nd, CBS-2/KCAL-9, iHeartRadio and the Los Angeles Chargers
will be hosting an effort to help raise funds to support students and families most in need.

The fundraiser will be broadcast on Channel 2, Channel 9 and iHeartRadio stations
across Los Angeles from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

I would like to encourage any of you to share this information with your network of family and friends.
And for those who can, please donate to lastudentsmostinneed.org or text the word NEED to 76278.

Thank you for your extraordinary dedication, hard work and commitment to help our students with their continued learning and supporting their families in this time of crisis.

We are all in this together.
Thank you.

To the Los Angeles Unified School Community,
This past week marks the start of a new chapter for all who are part of our school community. Students are learning in different ways, teachers are teaching in different ways and families are struggling to support their children in their studies while balancing other responsibilities.

I wish I could tell you it will all be back to normal sometime soon but it does not look like that will be the case.
Schools will remain closed through May 1st and we will provide additional updates well before May 1st on what will come next.

In the interim, we want to continue to help all students learn and will be making a significant effort to help this happen.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.
